Welcome to this photography site. It is intended to highlight the power, beauty, and wonder of nature. I hope, in a small way, to bring attention to the many efforts underway to restore and preserve threatened and endangered habitats and species. By visiting and photographing these places, I wish to encourage others to become involved in similar preservation efforts.
I have always enjoyed the outdoors and am gratefully taking advantage of an opportunity in retirement to spend time capturing wildlife and other outdoor images. The learning curve has been steep, but I have been helped immensely by attending many great photo workshops. Most important, I have had opportunities to spend time in the field with many accomplished nature and outdoor photographers. I hope to continue learning new photographic skills and welcome feedback on ways to improve my images.
Recently, I have had the chance to spend extended time in Hawaii on the small island of Moloka'i. The spectrum of habitats from the mountain cloud rainforest to a vast ocean fringing reef is truly amazing! Opportunities abound to photograph the upland Hawaiian birds of the cloud rainforest, the highly endangered Hawaiian monk seal, many beautiful endangered/threatened shorebirds, and a gorgeous underwater reef system. I hope you will enjoy these images. Proceeds from sales will benefit conservation organizations including The Moloka'i Land Trust, The Nature Conservancy, The Monk Seal Foundation, and other wildlife and nature conservation organizations. Please consider participating in your local conservation organizations. You can make a difference!
